Understanding the mechanisms of autophagy in glioblastoma cells

This project involved the structural and functional characterization of autophagy in glioblastoma (GBM) cells. We established monolayer and hydrogel culture systems for GBM cells. Analysis of open source datasets for GBM cells revealed the expression of genes associated with autophagy. Our results demonstrated that the expression of Beclin1 (BECN1) and Microtubule-associated proteins 1A/1B light chain 3B (MAP1LC3B) was higher in hydrogel/3D cultures as compared to traditional monolayer/2D cultures.
